Why did we start Eyeballs Out For Bikers?
The handsome guy on the cool bike is our son, Gunner. He was killed on his motorcycle when a driver turned left from a side street in front of him. Unless you've lost a child, you can't begin to imagine the pain and heartbreak it causes. It changes you, and your life forever. It is a devastating loss for the entire family.
While experiencing this soul crushing sadness and grief, we thought to ourselves, "We wouldn't wish this on anyone." We knew we had to do something to try to prevent other parents from feeling the way we were feeling. Gunner would want us to. Eyeballs Out For Bikers was born.
We also created "Gunner's Trailer". We mounted the bike Gunner was killed on, onto a trailer in the hopes of displaying it to visually represent the consequences of not paying attention while driving. We take it to various events, and display it around town to help get the message out. We post any upcoming appearances on The Gunner Dortch Memorial Facebook Page.
